Let’s Talk Anime – Naruto

Naruto, the classic anime series that everyone loved or is familiar with. If you don’t know it or haven’t heard of it even once, you probably lived under a rock. It is everywhere, from the TV, Manga, and even a known topic on the internet or your circle of friends and family. It’s quite impossible if you haven’t stumbled upon those memes, facebook posts, tweets, Instagram posts, tiktoks, Youtube videos and more.
As I said a few blog posts ago, I’ve mentioned that it is one of the popular and widely known anime Series, and even got series of movies. This is one of the anime that has such a wide fanbase. It is the story of a young kid Naruto Uzumaki and his adventures to become the Hokage of the town of Konoha. The story revolves around his journey, friendships, actions, trainings, and even his life as the handler of the nine-tailed fox. But for now, let’s dig a bit more about Naruto, Shall we?
For starters, the anime of Naruto is divided into two shows, basically a part 1 and 2, Naruto (2002-2007) and Naruto Shippuden (2007-2017) with 220 and 500 episodes respectfully. Accompanied by 10 movies such as Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow (2004), Legend of the Stone of Gelel (2005), Guardians of the Crescent Moon Kingdom (2006), Naruto Shippuden the Movie (2007), Naruto Shippuden the Movie: Bonds (2008), Naruto Shippuden the Movie: The Will of Fire (2009), Naruto Shippuden the Movie: The Lost Tower (2010), Naruto the Movie: Blood Prison (2011), Road to Ninja: Naruto the Movie (2012), and The Last: Naruto the Movie (2014).
Followed by a spin-off sequel show Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, set in Naruto’s older years as Konoha’s Hokage and as a father of the main Character Boruto, in which is his child with Hinata Hyuga. From 2017 to present, and manga started in 2016, with 230 episodes and counting, and with a movie Boruto: Naruto the Movie (2015)
The characters really make this show colorful. Everyone has their own plots as well as twists and turns in the story. From Naruto Uzumaki himself, his teammates and friends Sakura and Sasuke Uchiha, from other teams such as Hinata, Rock Lee, Choji, Gaara, Neji, Shikamaru, Itachi, and more, and trainers such as Kakashi, Guy, Iruka, and more. The character roster further expands where we met Jiraiya, Tsunade, Orochimaru, Shizune, Sai, Uchiha Madara, and more. During this time, we were also introduced to the Akatsuki, Naruto’s parents Minato Namikaze (Fourth Hokage) and Kushina Uzumaki, and Kurama, the nine-tailed fox inside Naruto, in which a huge part of the plot, rediscovering Kurama and Naruto’s journey on how to control it in favor of making the most out of his skills and powers.
Aside from the anime itself, the show is known for iconic fictional items that we bring back to life such as the cosplay costumes of Naruto and the Akatsuki capes, the widely known headgear, and some replica of the accessories such as weapons like the kunai and shuriken. Aside from that, the love over Naruto is never ending as different merch items inspired by the show is kept being made such as action figures, LED night lights, hoodies, bags, and even display posters and plush toys.
In Layman’s terms, the plot of Naruto divides into 3 parts; Part 1, Shippuden (Part 2), and Next Generations (Boruto).
The first part being Naruto’s childhood. Depicted as a shy outcast, the young Naruto dreamed of becoming the Hokage or The Ninja Leader in Konoha (Hidden Leaf Village). But before that, a wild nine-tailed fox attacked Konoha and as a response, Minato, Naruto’s Father seals the fox on the newborn Naruto, making him the host of the fox. Afterward, he joins the Ninja academy under Team 7 with Sakura and Sasuke, under the sensei Hatake Kakashi. Aside from learning skills in the Academy Team 7 completes missions requested by the villagers, ranging from doing chores and being bodyguards to performing assassinations, until they were later on allowed to take Chunin exam that will advance their ranks. During this time, Orochimaru, a notorious, powerful criminal put Konoha to crisis, Killing the Third hokage, making Tsunade the Fifth. Sasuke, a genetic inheritor of the powerful Sharingan, was lured in by Orochimaru to leave the village and train with him instead. Hence Naruto and Jiraiya began to search and retrieve Sasuke, as Sakura was left to become Tsunade’s Apprentice. Although determined, the failed the first. Jiraiya further trained Naruto for his next encounters with Sasuke.
Part Two, set two and a half years later, Naruto returned from training and recruited Sai and Yamato. The Akatsuki organization started kidnapping ninja hosts. Naruto defeated Nagato for killing Jiraiya and devastating the village, even though he became good. Black Zetsu fused with Madara to complete the reincarnation. That freed Kaguya Otsutsuki to take his place. In the past, Kaguya’s son, Hagoromo, had trained Ashura and Indra. Ashura and Indra were the first incarnations who came before Naruto and Sasuke. After Kaguya killed Obito, Kakashi sacrificed his power. Naruto and Sasuke worked together to seal Kaguya and Zetsu, and Madara died again. When Sasuke used the forbidden genjutsu, Naruto defeated and spared him. The world was peaceful and all the spiritual beasts were freed from Kaguya. Kakashi became Sixth Hokage. Sasuke realized his mistake, disabled the genjutsu, and forgave everyone.
And for the Next Generations part, a few Years later, Naruto became the Seventh Hokage. He married Hinata Huyga. They had two children. Their daughter was named Himawari, and their son was named Boruto. Boruto has a special eye and body mark. Boruto makes a new Team 7 with Konohamaru Sarutobi, Sasuke and Sakura’s daughter Sarada, and Orochimaru’s artificial son Mitsuki. Boruto helped Naruto and Sasuke defeat the two clansmen. Boruto learned that the new enemy group called “Kara” are using their own marks. Kawaki was taken to the Leaf Village and adopted by Naruto’s family.
There are tons of comedic elements that are really funny. Overall an entertaining and action-packed series. Tons of adventure and discoveries. Everyone, from the huge fans of the show or just the people who casually watches them airing on their TVs would enjoy. Most of them were adapted as running gags among the anime fans community on the internet.
